The Outliers (audio story) | Tardis | FANDOM powered by Wikia
The book is set in the future with a different government in place that is very controlling. The main character is a young woman in high school and I found Tessa to be refreshingly deep. She seems a bit lost at first, still dealing with the death of her parents two years prior. Her parent's ranch finally sells and a new family moves in, bringing a new boy to her school just as she begins a relationship with her first boyfriend. As her relationships develop with Joel and Liam, I found myself liking both boys for different reasons.
The love triangle is complicated and all three characters treat each other with a lot of respect and maturity. Soon mysteries around her obsession with time and numbers begin to make sense. Her father's past in the military is explored just enough to pique my interest into what happened to create this new society.
I really wish I could pick up that second book right away to see what happens next. Format: Paperback Verified Purchase. I'm not sure what I expected at the outset, but the story kept weaving itself and, before too long, I was completely hooked! The main character is an unassuming teenage girl who undervalues herself as a result of trials she has had to endure from a young age, it's like life has beaten her down. Then she develops a relationship with 2 different boys: one she has known for a long time, and one that moves into the ranch she used to live on.
These boys are both equally amazing in their own unique ways, and both are interested in taking their friendships with her to a deeper level. All the while this love triangle is developing, she begins to realize that there is more to her than what she thought - what anybody thought. A definite must-read for anybody who enjoys YA fiction!! I downloaded the Kindle version to have something to read on the plane and while visiting my mom in the nursing home when she would sleep. At first I thought it wouldn't be interesting because the central characters are all high school kids I was kind of sad when the book ended, but happy to learn its part of a trilogy.
Megan Squires is a talented photographer and in Traced she spreads her wings to reveal even more of her creativity and versatility as an artist. Great job, especially for a first-effort novel! Tessa's parents die in a plane crash and she goes to live with her Aunt and Uncle, and the farm she once lived in with her parents has to be sold.
After two years of feeling alone; close to her 17th birthday, things begin to change for Tessa. She discovers a secret about herself and gains the friendship of two boys, Joel and Liam. It's a fast paced, well written book with new surprises around every corner. Can't wait for the next book to come out to find out what she does with her secret and who wins her love! One person found this helpful. Whether it's a movie, TV, music, or a book, as a mother, I am always asking myself if I would allow my children to participate in today's entertainment. So, I had to ask myself after I finished reading Traced, would I let my teenager read this?
Absolutely yes! Traced has a perfect balance of suspense and romance without going over board. I found myself getting involved with each character, rooting them on and eager to find out what was going on. Whether you're a teenager looking to get sucked into another exciting journey or a mom, like me, who can't pass up a well written love triangle, Traced is a great book to share with your teen!! And, let's face it, isn't a great thing when you can share anything and enjoy it with your teenager? As a freshman in college I picked up this book on the weekend and was finished with in two days.
It was short enough not to take up all my time that I needed to be studying, but still enthralling enough to not let me put it down. I found the main. After reading the book myself I shared it with my whole dorm floor and now we are all anxiously awaiting book two!
